Water features for gardens and pools

Choose a wall waterfall or a courtyard fountain. Jets beside the pool are another option. We help you decide the position and finish as well as the sound you want. Pump access and cleaning are part of the plan.

How do you want the water to sound?

A water wall sounds different from the dining table than it does across the lawn. After 24+ years working in Dubai gardens we listen from the seat before settling on the drop. It matters even more if the nearest window is a bedroom.

The photographs show two options that suit quite different spaces. A sheet of water drops from a raised wall into a pool. Three small jets sit in their own basin beside a villa. A wall feature uses a vertical surface. A freestanding basin needs room around it for walking and cleaning. In either case we leave access to the pump.

What keeps the water moving?

Behind a wall of falling water there is a pump and a route back from the basin. The design needs to leave a way to reach both after the stone or tile goes on.

  • Position and scale

Review viewing points and nearby paths so the feature sits comfortably within the landscape.

  • Width of the falling stream

Discuss the type of flow and the level of sound you want beside the surrounding seating.

  • Finishes and lighting

Coordinate the visible materials with optional lighting and adjacent garden details.

  • Equipment and access

Allow practical access to the basin and installed equipment for cleaning and servicing.

Materials and evening detail

Make the feature part of the landscape

Ask to see the stone or tile dry as well as wet. The wall is still part of your garden on days when the pump is off. Look at how you would reach the area where the water lands: that is often where marks are most visible and the spot you will want to clean.

For an evening feature the light can catch the moving water without pointing back at the table. Look at it from the house as well as the patio before settling the position. We agree which controls and fittings go into the estimate. When the feature is ready we show you how to run it and where to reach the pump for care.

The proposed wall

A close-up and a wider garden view

Two photos work well here. Stand back to show the path and seating then take a closer view of the proposed wall or basin. We can use those to discuss a separate feature or one that feeds into your pool.

The price depends on the size and chosen finish as well as the existing connections and access. We discuss any surrounding work that may be needed. A feature in a completed garden can require a different installation approach from one included in a new landscape.

The details worth planning early

01

Sound

The sound of a quiet trickle suits some seats better than the splash of a broad cascade.

02

Access

Keep pumps and filters accessible for routine care.

03

Surroundings

Consider splash near seating and planting when deciding the position.

Flow and sound

Water feature
questions

Would the sound carry to a bedroom or patio? Tell us where you want the feature.

Can a water feature be added to a finished garden?

Often yes. We check the space and access first. The site visit also covers water and power connections as well as the surrounding finishes.

Will the feature need maintenance?

Yes. Cleaning and equipment checks are part of owning a water feature. We discuss access and ongoing care when planning the design.

Can you make a water feature quiet enough for a seating area?

A short drop into water can sound quite different from a sheet falling onto stone. We can discuss the flow and landing point in relation to your seats. A video of a sound you like is a useful reference.

Can lighting be included in the same proposal?

Yes. Lighting can be considered with the feature and its operating controls. We identify the selected fittings and related installation work in the agreed scope so it can be coordinated before finishes are completed.
